Looked Over

Do you remember when you had to bring rolls of film to the drug store, wait a day, and be surprised by the results when you picked up the pictures? How about when Polaroids first came out and you could see what the picture looked like in only minutes? Do you remember the good ol days when you needed an entire backpack to carry the necessary equipment to take just a handful of pictures? Or how about when you had to sit still for a week so that an artist could draw your portrait? Oh man, don’t you miss those days? Nowadays if your phone can’t instantly create a picture of the world around you, it’s weird. Your handheld video game system can’t accurately and instantly record an exact representation of whatever is in front of it? How old-fashioned. There was a time when creating representations of the world around us was an exclusive art form, but now you don’t even need a camera to own a camera. My laptop and my cell phone BOTH have cameras in them that can not only instantly record the world, but they can also do it in video (which is an entry for another day). What a wonderful world we live in.
