Holy cow people. Sliced bread is the best thing since… sliced… bread? I don’t really know where that one was going, but today is a good time to celebrate sliced bread. Are you aware that sliced bread wasn’t packaged and sold as such until this day in 1928? That’s right friends, July 7th 1928, Otto Frederick Rohwedder invented the first machine that sliced bread. It took humanity THAT long to realize that sandwiches were awesome enough to deserve their own kind of bread. Could you imagine a world where bread didn’t fit nicely into toasters or where sandwiches were made on uneven bread that you had to cut yourself? Well, your great-grandparents lived during those dark days! So take a moment today to thank Mr. Rohwedder for his wonderful invention, and make the best sandwich that nature and science allow.
